STIHL Trimmer
We currently have two 94R STIHL trimmers in working order and would like to have one more, as teen groups often use them. The trimmers help keep the property looking nice and ensure grass and weeds don’t grow up over the sidewalks or roads.
Thanks you Brown Street Baptist Church for purchasing us a new trimmer in August 2025. What a blessing.
STIHL 362 Chainsaw
While Missionary Acres currently has a couple of smaller chainsaws, we need a more powerful one to use when working with some of the larger trees around the property.
STIHL RB600 Pressure Washer
If you’ve ever been to Southeast Missouri, you know how much of a problem mold is. We spend a lot of time each year pressure washing all of the homes and buildings, as well as some sidewalks. We need a second unit to speed up the process when we have volunteers on-site helping us.
Praise God, thanks to a donation from the Missionary Acres Resident Association, we made this purchase in April.
New Aluminum Brake
To save money on installation, we bend the aluminum needed to surround doors, windows, and other areas on-site. Our current brake was purchased many years ago and is no longer working well. Part of it broke last fall while working on a new house. A new one will allow us to keep bending metal and saving money to keep the costs as low as possible for our dear residents.
New UTV
Praise God, a new family is joining the full-time team here at Missionary Acres! As part of our preparation for their arrival, we’d love to purchase a new UTV they can use to drive around the property. Your donation will allow them to get around the property quickly as they work on different projects, be more fuel efficient compared to a traditional vehicle, and cost less to insure.
Zero Turn Mower
Missionary Acres has about 55 acres of developed property. We have many acres that need to be mowed. During our peak mowing season, we operate a 60″ John Deere Zero Turn mower about 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. We do not currently have a backup, so when repairs are needed, we cannot mow. Plus, if we have two people mowing, it’ll get the job done more quickly!
Pressure Tank Cleaning & Restoration
This spring (2025) we had our pressure tank for the water distribution system inspected. During the inspection we were informed that the tank needs significant reconditioning. The cost of the work will be close to $30,000, and this year’s budget does include funds for this project. However the cost for the needed work is much higher than the amount in the budget.
UPDATE July 2025: Praise God all the needed funds for this project have been donated and we have scheduled the work to be completed this fall! God is so good. We thank Him first, and also everyone who has prayed about this need and given to it.
4000 Series John Deere Tractor
We currently own a 3320 John Deere tractor with a bucket. Although this continues to be an asset that we use regularly, it has a narrow wheelbase and is prone to tipping. Moving up to the next-larger-sized tractor will provide us with a machine that has a lower center of gravity and a wider wheelbase, making it safer to operate.
New-to-us Backhoe
Missionary Acres currently has a 1986 John Deere 310C Backhoe. While it has been used for many years, it is beginning to show its age and requires more and more repairs. We are currently saving money to purchase a new-to-us model in the future. While the exact cost is unknown, we estimate it’ll cost around $50,000
Around the Acres, we use the backhoe for many projects, including:
- Digging trenches
- Uncovering water lines for repair or replacement
- Landscaping
- Uncovering septic tanks when they need to be pumped or replaced
- Moving heavy loads
- Debris cleanup after storms
