Hello, my name is Alan Fluegge. I was born the first time in Chicago, IL on February 19, 1947. My dad worked for International Harvester in Chicago and, when I was 7 years old, we moved to St. Clair Shores (a suburb of Detroit on the east side). I was blessed to be raised in a home where both of my parents were born again believers. At the first opportunity they brought me to church. I have attended a Baptist church all my life.

While a youngster I made a profession of faith in Sunday School. As I grew into my teenage years I did not live for the Lord. Upon graduation from high school I matriculated into Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. As a freshman I continued in my carnal ways. I met the one the Lord had chosen for me to be my wife while in my sophomore year at Tech. In the fall of the year we went to a revival meeting at First Baptist Church in Laurium, MI. It was at that meeting that the Lord got a hold of my heart and I gave my life to Him. Subsequent to that day Sandy and I got engaged and were married on March 22, 1969. I graduated in August of that year and we moved to Detroit so I could work at General Motors as an engineer.

While at GM I received my notice from Uncle Sam to join forces with other draftees to go into the Army. The Lord allowed me to enlist in the United States Air Force where I served for 4 years working on the flight line at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Marquette, MI.

While in the USAF the Lord called me to serve Him in whatever capacity He chose. To prepare for ministry I enrolled in Temple Baptist Theological Seminary. Four years later, I graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree and a degree in Christian Education. From there Sandy and I moved to several different ministries while raising 11 children.

In 1992 my wife and I took a survey trip to Moscow, Russia to see what the Lord had in mind for us as church planting missionaries. Earlier in the year I was blessed to go on a ministry trip to Moscow with the Bill Gothard Basic Youth Conflicts ministry. From that trip, the Lord gave me a burden to resign my pastorate and relocate, with my wife and 10 of my children, to Moscow. After 3 years of deputation we arrived in Moscow in May of 1995. During Y2K we went back to the states for our furlough. During that time I believed the Lord led us to remain in the states. In 2002 we moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where, over the next 16 years, I pastored two churches. In the latter part of 2018 the Lord led us to apply to Missionary Acres to live out our retirement years there. On December 1st of 2019 we moved our stuff to the Acres and we moved into our new home (403 Oak Ln) in the summer of 2020.

My name is Sandy Fluegge. I was born in Hancock, Michigan on August 30, 1948 and grew up on a farm in the Community of Keweenaw Bay, along with my brother and three sisters. My father was a farmer and also worked in a local machine shop.

We sporadically attended an Apostolic Lutheran Church 40 miles away, but my sisters and I also attended a Lutheran Sunday School in our community for several years. When I was eleven or twelve years old a Baptist lady began to help teach it, and she gave each of us a little medallion with John 3:16 inscribed on it as well as a small NT. Some six or seven years later, during the 1967 Arab/Israeli War, the thought the world might end and I would have to stand before God and be judged terrified me. I knew I wasn’t fit for heaven and cried out to God for mercy. The Holy Spirit brought that medallion to my mind. I got it out and the little NT and read John 3:16. At that time, I believed God’s record and trusted in Jesus Christ.

Alan and I had met the previous year at Michigan Technological University where we were both students. When we returned that fall we began to attend a Baptist Church where I learned so much biblical truth.

We were married in March of 1969. Although Alan had an engineering degree the Lord had different plans. After working less than a year as an engineer, the Lord used the Vietnam war to steer Alan into the ministry. It was at this time God called him into the ministry.

In the various churches we served in, I taught ladies Bible studies, started ladies groups and started several libraries. While serving in Moscow, Russia, we often had the privilege of hosting fellow servants of the Lord in our apartment. Some came to adopt Russian children, some were passing through Moscow to other parts of Russia and needed a place to stay for a night or two before departing for their final destination; others had to come to Moscow to conduct official business and often stayed for several days.
